It is with a heavy heart that we have to inform you of the passing of Retired Firefighter Benito Gutierrez.
Firefighter Benito Gutierrez was born on January 21, 1942 and passed away on October 30, 2020 at the age of 78. He was a Vietnam Veteran joining the Marine Corp in 1963 serving until 1967. Through his service to his country he received the National Defense Metal, Vietnamese Service Metal, Vietnamese Campaign Metal and Good conduct Metal. From the Marines he joined the Fire Department where he worked 28 years and retired from Station 12. He was known for his hard work, cooking, dedication to work (on or off duty) and family.
To put more money on the table he worked a second full time job at Sears as a truck driver. He never missed work come rain come shine he was always there for his family and the family on the Fire Department. Firefighter Benito Gutierrez is survived by his wife Josefina Gutierrez, his daughter Sara Isabel Shah and his son Miguel Gutierrez. He also had another son David Gutierrez who passed away in 2006. Firefighter Gutierrez has 9 grandchildren, and his dog Daisy whom he loved to death. Firefighter Benito Gutierrez lived for his family, loved the Fire Department and had a special bond with his granddaughter Cienna. They were always calling each other to see who was eating the better meal.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 10, 2020, from 0900 to 1030 at Martin Funeral Home 1460 George Dieter. Honors will be rendered at 0900 hours.
