Everyone knows that 9-1-1 can never go down. That is the mindset of the IT professionals who work for the El Paso County 911 District that keep El Paso’s public safety systems going 24/7. Agencies like the El Paso Fire Department rely on these systems to stay connected to the community when they call for help.
The 911 District’s IT staff works behind the scenes supporting communications, designing and maintaining vital 9-1-1 systems like the 9-1-1 phone system, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Everbridge Mass Notification system, Mobile Data Terminal (MDT) software, and the El Paso Regional Communication Center (EPRCC) facility.
These systems process over a million calls for service a year, for 39 public safety agencies in El Paso County. The dedicated 911 District staff respond to calls for service 24/7/365 and proudly keep El Paso’s public safety systems operating 99.9999% of the time.
A vital component of the greater public safety system, they are a hard-working group of IT professionals that are rarely seen, but are always working behind the scene to ensure that the EPFD Communications Division and all of the regional response agencies have the tools and support they need to be successful.
Let’s take a moment to thank the people that 9-1-1 calls for help.
