Thursday morning, Efrain Robles from the El Paso Firefighters Association, along with Rick Flores from 1-800 Board Up and Liz Aranda from Farmers Insurance, paid a visit to the children of the Hospitals of Providence West Oncology as part of the annual ‘Hearts of Courage’ initiative.
Together, they filled several holiday stockings with coloring books, crayons, candy and food coupons from different local food chains and distributed them to the courageous children of the hospital. The kids were also presented with a certificate and a cool firefighter helmet.
The annual event honors the memory of 6-year-old Jose Eduardo Licon whose dream was to become a firefighter before losing his battle against cancer. Jose’s memory lives on through this annual event where firefighters visit the children and name them “Honorary Firefighters” to show them their support in their battles.
