Last weekend, Fire Station 5 hosted the Zachariah Memorial Toy Drive in memory of Zachariah Kit Hernandez.
His family collected dozens of toys for children, including board games, books, arts & craft activities, and puzzles. Winter wear, clothing items, toiletries, blankets, and personal care items were also donated.
These items will benefit residents in need through many local community organizations to include the Center Against Sexual & Family Violence, the Lee & Beulah Moor Children’s Home, and the El Paso Center for Children.
This is the third year the EPFD collaborates with the Zachariah Memorial Toy Drive.
About the Zachariah Memorial Toy Drive:
Zachariah was only 13 months at the time of his passing. Although he lived on this earth for a short period of time, he lived it to the fullest– traveling with his older sisters, experiencing many joyful moments and bringing so much light and laughter to his family.
In his honor, his family wanted to share his birthday with the community in an effort to uplift spirits, bring hope, increase support, raise awareness, and gather donations in collaboration with local organizations that truly impact the lives of children and families in economic need this holiday season.
