Last Year’s Extinguisher Recall Gets a Reaction

A recent recall heightens the importance to check our Fire Extinguisher devices.

This past Thursday, Lt Schaerfl was interviewed on the Kidde Fire Extinguisher recall from November 2, 2017.  Even though the recall happened last year, it is a good reminder for us to check our fire extinguishers and smoke alarms.  For those of us who did not see the PSA, here are just the good bits to keep you going:

Kidde, a large manufacturer of fire safety products has recalled two styles of fire extinguishers, plastic handle fire extinguishers and push-button Pindicator fire extinguishers. Hazards include fire extinguishers that can become clogged or require excessive force to discharge and can fail to activate during a fire emergency.
In addition, the nozzle can detach with enough force to pose an impact hazard.

The El Paso Fire Department is urging the public to check their extinguishers to see if they have a recalled Kidde brand style of the extinguisher. For more information regarding the Kidde recall, visit http://www.kidde.com/home-safety/en/us/support/product-alerts/recall-kidde-fire-extingusisher/
